Shopping in NYC

Oh my gosh - I did so much shopping its not even funny. I miss NY. I miss people watching and seeing how NY'ians master the effortless chic look. I miss shopping in unique eccelectic boutiques and street vendors.

I found a fab statement ring - i think it channels Olivia P - what do you think?

ps - my nailpolish color is Essie's new color - Merino Cool
I found these great - casual bangles with clover charms on them. I think it tones down my jeweled bracelet from JCrew and it looks stylish layered with my Michael Kors watch

Style Icon - Olivia Palermo

As you know, I'm in love with Olivia Palermo's style. She always wears perfectly tailored pieces and knows how to mix and match prints without making her look too busy. I'm still trying to figure out the gaps in my closet and what pieces I need to invest in so i gathered a few pics of Olivia to help inspire me and help me hone in on the pieces i really want and need.

Style Icon: Olivia Palermo

Olivia Palermo, NY socialite, villain on the reality show, "The City" has impeccable style. Although you just want to hate her, you can't help look to her for style inspiration. She effortlessly pairs menswear with statement accessories for a truly feminine look. She knows how to choose staple pieces and use them in various ways for a wide array of looks. This month, she's on the cover of Asos Magazine. And from the video below, we see that she had a big hand in choosing the styles and pairing them with great accessories.

Right on the nail

I'm infatuated with bright nailpolish colors for the spring and summer. I love the look of short, manicured nails with a pop of color, whether its Olivia Palermo's cherry red color, Whitney Port's currently popular Coral color, or even Lauren Conrad's hot fuschia color. Just picture them holding their cup of coffee from Starbucks or flipping through the pages of a magazine with their fab nails.

Now, I'm a matchy, matchy girl and i always match my fingers and my toes. So picture those hot colors will pretty sandals :) Not sure how many more mani/pedi's I can get done before baby comes so not sure yet what color i want to decide on. But here's some pics to look at for fun from http://www.weheartit.com/ :) Granted i probably wouldn't rock a lot of these looks, but they're fun to look at

Cramping my style

Not a good day today! I woke up with a leg cramp in my calf muscle. I felt this about 2 weeks ago too in NJ and absolutely hate it. You feel paralyzed for a few minutes b/c you can NOT move your leg - it hurts that much. Even now, a few hours later, i am still limping. I guess its just part of the pregnancy. I read that since the uterus is getting larger, it restricts blood flow to the legs...something like that.

So today is bed rest day. Im just enjoying my Dunkin Donuts Iced Coffee. (image courtesy of weheartit.com)

I think i'll just catch up on "The City." (images courtsey of MTV.com)

Spatopia

I have been looking forward to today for a few weeks now. I had an appointment to get a manicure and pedicure!!! Its so funny the things we take for granted . Back in my NYC days (makes me sound so old) i would get manicures and pedicures left and right during my lunch breaks. Then i would get them every few months and then all of sudden, i couldn't remember the last time i had one.

So finally, i decided to treat myself to a mini pampering break - mainly b/c i didn't want gross nails in my baby shower pics, but also because, as i've said before, its tough to feel fabulous when you're gaining all this weight and when you feel like you have a bowling ball in your tummy. So today was the day :) Every little thing helps your esteem - trust me.

Since we just moved here to Atlanta, i had no clue where to go. I know the Buckhead area is promising, but its a bit of a trek from home and i'm sure places there are pricey. So i decided to find a place in Avondale Estates which is the next town over from me with a cute boutiquey neighborhood feel. I found a place called Jazmin Spa. It has 3 locations in Atlanta so i figured it had to be good right?

I have to say i was very happy with the service - then again, i would've been happy with anything - i think. But really, the place was cute, everyone was nice, the OPI color selection was great. They even had a few Essie selections. I went in their thinking i would get a cherry red color . Now i'm not normally a "color" girl - i usually like the light pink/neutral color b/c it looks elegant and looks good with my skin color. My usual is Essie's "limo-scene." But today i envisioned getting cherry red - b/c Olivia Palermo rocks it and she's my fashion icon. As i thought of it more and more, i figured i didn't have the confidence for cherry red at the moment and i decided to go for a color that my good friend Richelle got me into, Opi's Barefoot in Barcelona.

I'm soo happy with the color - its a good happy medium between my normal light pink and my overly showy red. Its just such a big difference between when you do your own mani/pedi vs having it done professionally. It felt so relaxing to get a scrub AND a massage on both my hands and my feet. I even got the parafin treatment on my hands where they put the warm wax and kept it in warm gloves for a few minutes. Those little moments really do mean a lot at this stage when all you really feel are aches and pains all over.
And can i just make the disclaimer that Barefoot in Barcelona is the perfect name for this color - its like a neutral color that still makes a statement. Its the perfect color to have on your toes, walking around in the sand. So what if the sand is snow at this moment :) I can still dream.
